Since fitting my Cav SRi 8V SEH engine into my Cav GSi, I have aquired a misfire, this only happens when you apply the throttle quickly from tickover. Its not there if i apply the throttle slowly, and gradually.
It seems to get worse the warmer it gets too.
Any ideas what could be causing this.? Remembering the engine run fine, prior to being fitted. It has all new leads and plugs.
The only possible causes IMO are bad earth from gearbox to chassis(this is loose due to the thread being ripped, and i need to fit a slightly larger bolt).
The other possible causes imo, could be, the wires connecting to the 2 pin plug underneath the coil, and above the single wire plug. Theres a green wire and a black wire. Atm the green wire in the bottom wire, and Im not sure which was its supposed to go as the plug came apart while doing the transplant, and me and ben connected it up like that, and may of connected it up wrong.
The car starts fine, and also ticks over perfect.
If someone could check their wiring for me, and tell me what colours go where, ie- 2 pin plug underneath coli, 1 x green wire, and 1 x black wire.= I need to know which way round these go.
Another possibe cause IMO, could be that the exhaust is blowing. I will be replacing manifold studs etc tomorrow.
So, does anyone know what could be causing my engine to misfire, if none of the above mentioned is the cause.?
Cheers Lee for that, but I can't see it being that as its not been touched/removed at all since the engine was last running fine. I have a funny feeling its got something to do with the fuel, or a possible kinked pipe coming from the fuel pump. I will have a look tomorrow, and put some 4* in.
