Well, I've spent another day working on my LET. I'm replacing all the gaskets/oil seals, everything really apart from the main/big ends and pistons/rings which I know are pukka.
Anyway, it has a Coscast head but the camshaft bearing caps have '96 marked on them, as in 1996. That aint right innit????
Didn't think you could fit new caps to an old head as the cam 'bearing' surfaces would be mis-matched?
Is there anything else with one of the round year manufacture stamps on it?
There's um............. no engine no. at all.........
There was a second batch of coscast heads for the turbo run. They arent as nice as early gte16v type because they have the same dodgy casting, thinner valve guides and smaller valve seats exactly the same as GM heads.
The cams are not recognised on EPC either
90423011 - Exhaust
90423010 - Inlet.
It has the late-type female head bolts as opposed to the male ones on my XE.
This motor has a shady past I reckon. It's condition luckily makes up for it.
Any other way to date it?
