I have just phoned Hometune (I know what your going to say, but I carn't be bothered doing this myself) And they quoted me £99.90 to have the rear engine mount replaced - they have to get the engine mount from vaux. Is there anything I can do to off set the enevitable, without having to pay that amount for a job on a car whose next place of rest is going to be the scrapyard in about 12 months time.
cheers for advice I know your going to offer me lmao lmao

There is, the job is sooooo easy. 3 bolts. The mount is £40 inc VAT from Vauxhall. It is a 15 minute job. Find a back-street guy who will do it all in for £50. Or DIY, jack up back of gear-box, unbolt old one, and bolt on new one.
The mount is quite common and a third party part may be less £££ or get one from a scrappy for pennies.

irrc the gear linkage is mounted on the chassis to gearbox bracket. i can see why he said that, but you dont remove the whole bracket from the gearbox, its stays put. You just replace the actual rubber/mount section.
