same rings, crank turned freely with no rods on it. caps are in the correct order.
the engine had its head collapse due to excessive heat. so there was a lovely mayonase lubrication fluid there. appart from that it was a brand new engine (ie it had come off the test bed with 3 hours on it)
the engine is a 1800 Kseries but im sure its a generic "problem" with the shells and stiffness being linked??
