Just above no. 4 spark plug (right hand side) there is a ledge where the block is bigger than the head. Clean this off and there will be an engine number, should say: E 16 SE. This was the engine used in the gte. Nothing really u can use on your engine. If u want 2 make your can go quicker change the engine, waste of time messing around with a 1.2.
prob is i had an accident last year so have no no claims and a fault accident against me so i couldn't insure a 1.6 so i want the manifolds, downpipe and cam from a gsi engine and the rest of the exhaust from a gte hence i need 2 no wot this engine is
yeah but thats just been a ****** wot happens when ur mate kills some1 his insurance don't pay out coz they inspect his car and the old bill lock him up 4 the rest of his life? so can ne1 make some sensible suggestions like how 2 tell the difference between a gsi and gte engine?
Mate, I think everyone on here will agree that you are waisting your time on a 1.2. We laugth at things like that at cruises. You dont want to be laugthed at do you? The 1.2 will never be quick. Ever. By the way I was unaware my mate was going to kill someone? and what do the insurance companys pay out for exsactly when you kill someone? a new person? or funeral costs maybe?
Thing is they wouldnt pay out s*** with or without a diffrent lump cos there all cu*ts.
So if you want a sensible answer ask a senisble question.
er im sorry but i didin't realise that 'how do u tell the difference between a gte and gsi engine' wasn't a sensible question. as 4 insurance yeah it costs way 2 much but bein that ive bin in a accident where nearly both me and the other driver almost died i no the exact point of why insurance companys charge so much and how it works
Ok fair enuf. I dont know if there is any diffrence between the two engines and if there is they will pobley be internal anyway.
What exsactly do you want to do?
Cos I know that nothing from a 1.6 will fit yours.
Exsept the badge maybe. lol.
Only messin with ya mate. But trust me it aint worth trying to 'tune it up' put a airfilter and zorst on it if you have to ,that will make it sound a bit more like how you want it to go.
The manifold and exhaust will make a few bhp difference. As for the insurance thing, i put an astra 1.6 SV carb engine in my 1st nova and the insurance company insured it as if it was an astra L. Was only a little bit more than before.
well i was goin 2 do 1.6 16v corsa gsi conversion until my accident which my insurance company decided was my fault so that leaves me at 19 no no claims 1 fault accident meanin i couldn't insure the conversion.
as 4 the 1.2 engine here is my plans,
nova gsi manifold and downpipe
gte front pipe as decat with rest of system backover
gte cam and followers
1.4 sri injector
minor head work, port polish etc.
general tidy up clean
i can get all this done 4 bout £80 through a few people i no n i reckon it'll add bout 30bhp which i think 4 £80 isn't bad hence why im doin it.
