I have just checked the condition of my standard air filter in my standard 'pancake/frying pan' type air filter box.
The bit facing the spout hole was a little dirty, so i have turned the air filter around to a cleaner section (i know i shuold get a new filter, but can be arsed since ill probably get a K&N bolt on soon ).
I thought id have an experiment with removing the spout thing so that more air would be getting into the filter quicker.
Went for a drive, and no major difference felt, maybe slightly more responsive, but only just.
Is there any problem with leaving it like this?
Only one i can think of is that when it gets colder, it might need the hot air feed from the manifold.
Are there any other problems with leaving it off?
Im gonna drill the air box soon aswell to see if that helps to make a difference.
