topbuzz, lol, we do know what we are doing thanks. re-built many a engine before, as all it is is an engine, nothing specail really. basically wondering if theyre are the same tourque setting as the 16v is.
no need to research an engine re-build. buy all new bits, fit them and there you go.
its not my engine so i dont know how much it has cost, but the bearings are elad copper ones and cost around 40 quid for mains and big ends, water pump i know was £15 as i picked that up for him.
who are autovaux? surely a local motor factors will be cheaper.
what bits in the top end have you got and how has it came to 200 quid? all new valves?
the difference is autovaux sell vx parts, a motor factors doesnt. and no, they arent always cheaper. my rebuild cost 140 quid or summat, but it was just a quicky, didnt take pistons or crank out as they were ok. www.autovaux.co.uk
this engine re-build is into quite a lot of money, new low comp pistons all lightened and balanced etc.
the local motor factors sell a water pump for £15 it is the exact same part and part number and comes in the same box if you bought it from vauxhall just a lot cheaper, same with their gasket sets etc. so they do sell vx parts

Got the following from autovaux...
1) new head bolts, cam wheel bolts, basically renewed any streach type bolt for the top half
2) new rollers, belts, water pump, tensioers
3) all new gaksets, including an Z20LET metal one
4) new seals, valve stem seals and oil seals on the top half (ie by the cams)
Then you add VAT and postage and you get £200.
I'm keeping the valves and tappets, they look ok, just need to clean them up.
do you not get valve stem oil seals when you get a head set??
i did for my 1600 nova.
cheers for the tourque setting btw. have something similr for the xe sat in the garage. looks the same. will be re-building the bottom end next weekend then just need the head to come back from being modified. its cost me mate quite a few quid actually, should be worth it i hope
> do you not get valve stem oil seals when you get a head set??
According to EPC for the C20LET, no you don't. I didn't see any part with qty 16 beside it. The gasket kit covered (off the top of my head)
- haed gasket
- inlet gasket
- outelt/exhaust gasket
- thermstat gasket
and about 2 other gaskets.
The 2 oil seals for the cams/head and valve stem oil seals were seprate from the kit.
