help needed with wiring on 20xe

ive been trying to get the engine ive just fitted into my nova to start but the colours ive got in my loom seem different to what is stated on valvers .com .
ive got the the starter motor solenoid wired up and the main power to the battery and the engine turns over but there is no spark and the fuel pump relay isnt switching. what else has got to be wired up to start the engine. the engine is from an early astra gte ive been told. does anyone know where i could find out what coulours do what on the loom. thanks

thick red to battery +

Have a look atthe square ish connector above the gearbox.
