sounds like the fuel vapour recirculation valve, hooked up to the carbon canister in the wing.
right hand side meaning which side???
distributor side, its meant to have another plug go into it.
Just unplug it and start your car that the best way to see what is does! lmao lmao
its not plugged into anything, and ive got trouble at the moment wiring up the new engine into my car
thats a good point actually! it should come up with a fault code
Its a good idear then! in a way but for the wrong reasons (hahah 0ddball didn't think of it, but then he will say its not a good idear, he'll probally be right! )
i cant get a fault code because the ecu and engine arn`t running yet, thats why i need to know what it does to wire it up.
well the only white plug on the XE loom i have here goes to the coolant tempreature sensor on the front (exhaust side) towards the end of cyl 1
just leave it out for the moment and get the engine running, Worry about it later. (make sure to make a note of it thought).

i thought wiring up the engine to get it going would be the easiest part of the conversion, especially after re wiring a gt turbo and a fiesta rs with no troubles.
try rewiring an 2.2 vtech honda prelude engine!
it shouldnt be that difficult TBH!
the loom is self contained
the connectors all hang near where they are supposed to go and in most cases only fit in one connector with the exception of the knock sensor and ICV
then you have the other 4 - 7 wires that power the loom and other bits.
the loom came with all the plugs on it and they all connected straight up but but the bloke that had the engine before me had it in a nova aswell and he has played around with the wiring and its got bits hanging out of it with bits of cable he has added on.
what does the plug look like ? is it like the other junior timer plugs for injectors and sensors, is it spades in a block, locking clips, where does it join the loom ?
you know on expensive remote controlled cars they have the 12v yellow battery packs, its nearly the same connector thats on the battery pack to connect it to the car. white with 2 prongs inside that the other plug pushes into.il try and get a pic now.
it isnt part of the standard loom then.
do you have a plug on the loom that looks like this:
doesnt ring any bells but ive only stripped the engine loom off an early engine. the late engines had the fuel vapour recirculator thingy, air temp sensor, lambda sensor, all sorts of extra sh-t.
odders have you got an email add i can send a pic of the plug to as i dont know how to get it onto mig
im thinking that maybe the previous owner cutomised the loom... this connector could be the power connector or somthing.
Tricky: what colour wires go into it?
are they thick or thin?
