Poll for people who have had Phase 3.

I do not want to start an argument but I am very curious as too how many people have fitted phase 3 and how many people have had a problem (terminal) with their engine shortly afterwards.

What precautions if any did you take before fitting it and what went wrong with the engine and what was your diagnosis of the cause.

If your phase 3 is still going strong do you have water injection and was your engine rebuilt before phase 3 was fitted.

    thanks muppet.
    Now has a 4WD project. :)

    Phase 3

Running for about 3 months now and no problems as yet!
Cleaned injectors, standard Astra GSI fuel pump and a 2.8 frontera intercooler. Will be fitting the phase 3.5, water injection and bigger intercooler soon Watch this space!!!
Engine had 102000 miles on it when i got it running a superchip(Crap). When the phase 3 was fitted the engine had done about 125000.

rebuilt the engine and run water injection. Am in the process of upgrading to some decent injectors phase 4 and a new fuel pump. Also lightening the flywheel and having the head gasflowed! All in all should hopefully all be ok
Sir, please step away from the car

My phase 3 ran fine (now running phase 3.5). Also fitted water injection, 8.1l FMIC & a charge cooler & larger (Bosch Reds) injectors. Engine was not rebuilt as it had only done 15K miles from new (replaced with brand new Vaux engine when idler pulley shattered).

Ran phase 3 for a couple of months then upgarded to phase 3.5 still running fine 8 Months later. Running EVO IC, uprated pump, cleaned injectors etc etc.

Best money spent, defo go for the phase 3.5! massive improvment over phase 3.

I keep hearing persistent rumours that going above phase 3 is hassle and that phase 4 is just totally unreliable and unmanageable. I haven't managed to deduce exactly what the problems are. Is it just random probs or are there specific areas of weakness? Any comments? Any one using phase 4 or know of any running successfully?

    Cheers

Well, I doubt any FWD car (even Not Normal's) will hold Phase 4 power through a decent corner.

Its not about whats quick or if your bhp has a 1,2 or 3 at the beginning (although 3 is nice) its all about fun.

The Big cars need more power to be fun so they tend to opt for the higher phase kits.

Im gonna be running phase 3.5 but anything above this is OTT i think on a 2WD road car. Even though EDS say that phase 3/3.5 can be run on a standard engine i would still be a bit nervous about fitting it if the engine was a higher milage tired engine. The minimum i would do is strip the engine and check all was ok, but depending on your budget i would go for a rebuild and maybe some stronger rods and upgrade the pistons.

Been running phase 4 for a good couple of months now, no probs at all, well happy but tbh it is too much for FWD !!!!
