AndyH which manifold you got on ya corsa m8? Im undecided against the SBD and BTB. if the BTB is only £250 as it says in TV then ill go for that. been told to steer clear of the cheaper janspeed unit!

I have some before and after real road comparisons. I ran my TB's with standard manifold for a couple of weeks.

Can only speak for the 1.6 engine. SBD's manifold is designed by BTB, so these will be essentially the same item. I have SBD's Corsa competition FWD Exhaust manifold Type-B-1.6L-XE and have nothing but praise for it. Real gains in mid range torque, but more peak power too - right up to 8500rpm in my case. I think they do a type A manifold for engines in a lower state of tune. I can't see the BTB manifold being any cheaper TBH - esp. as they charge over £1000 just to make a custom cat-back exhaust system.

PS - when I was running about 150bhp, I replaced the crappy PMC manifold I was using with SBD's type A manifold - made about another 4lb/ft of torque across the mid range and an extra 7bhp of peak power.

i have no printouts to prove it but thats kinda what mine felt like going from throttlebodies+XE manifold to throttlebodies+ type A manifold. Kinda got this Vtec period higher up the rev range that wasnt there before.

I know what you mean Odders - when you stick a decent manifold on for the first time, the engine just kind of feels 'right'

    Nova. Sri 1.6 16v TBs
well when i had my nova sri engine in it was completely differnt when i fitted a full magnex system with stainless manifold. had to get used to not drping the clutch with no revs or it would try and die, but it would just keep pulling until the limiter kicked in.
got the 1.6 16v in my nova now and it seems like theres something holding it back big time, either the exhaust or timing is off, but iv checked cambelt timing and thats ok. the exhaust is just a std nova GTe system.
i know somebody who paid £800 for a full BTB system for a nova with 4 branch manifold

    hmmm...

i have a full powerflow system, twin 3" tailpipes, chipped, powercap (to be sorted), throttle body mod, full rebuilt engine on 3k, ported head etc etc with the standard redtop mannifold on me cav gsi and been told time and time again..there aint no point in putting an aftermarket mannifold on cause the standard redtop one is just as good for the gains....

what are your views then about this..?
