I've got a porous head problem, & I'd be lookin @ an approx £200 repair bill. If I leave it as it is & change the coolant every few months i might end up with a head gasket failure/ warped head etc etc.
I've been thinking of re-conditioning my engine, i'm only gonna do it if the porous head problem is fixed at the time. I'm looking at doin a compression test first & then making the final descision- i've been told i'd be payin approx £350-£400 for a re-conditioning job.
What does everyone think, the car has done 138k & is in excellant condition otherwise- so a re-conditioned engine would make sense if i were to sell it on.
surely you could get another head for less than that. when we took the XE head to be skimmed, and they said it was warped too much, and that it would need an new one, they said it would cost about £200 for that... im sure ive seen em going for about £80 - £120 on here.
