I've just dropped the whole lot of oil from my sump on the ground in my Astra, it seems to be coming from behind the bottom pulley. Has anyone got any ideas as to whether the whole oil pump is gonna be shot or just the seals? Any ideas on how much of a b!tch of a job it is to change the seals on the pump? Was also wondering after just looking at a thread similar to this RGB posted whether or not my rings (ooer) are knackered too, although I have never had any problems with burning oil.
just need access to the crankshaft and the face of the pump. then its a matter of extractng the old seal, maybe screw in a couple of self tappers and wiggle out the seal with two sets of pliers. then tap in the new seal with a big socket and light blows from a mallet.
cambelt off, crank pulley off, undo crankshaft bolt (aaaaaaaggggghhh), oil cooler pipes out the way, then mince about through the drivers wheel arch.
Am still thinking about the scooby, still love my Astra though, and I've got to piss on a bloke I know in a Cobra replica before she goes anywhere. If I was going to sell it I don't know whether to sell the TB's separately.
Cheers for the help mate, I'll be down my favourite parts dept tomorrow.
