thinking about putting a 2ltr 16v engine into mates astra (1.8 8v mk2 SRi)
Is it a straight swop (engine, gearbox, loom)?
Do the engine mounts need modifing at all?
On the 8v I notice the gear selector rod (from gearstick) goes direct to gearbox selector (i.e no linkage on rear mount). Would this just connect straight to the F20 same way?
What modifications need to be done to the manifold/zorst?
16v accelerator cable and 8v clutch cable can be used without problem yes?
Driveshafts from 8v will fit straight into F20 with no problems yes? or if I use the 16v driveshafts, these will fit straight into wheel hubs no problem?
Nothing needs bashing (like on nova conversion)?
engine bay doesnt need strengthening does it?
anything i missed?
Also looking at doing a valver drop into a 1.6 8v carb'd mk2 astra cabby.
The GTE fuel tank will be a straigh swap for the carb one yes? I assume the fuel lines will need to be changed, these are easy swap yes.
Is the cabby conversion exactly the same as the 1.8 8v SRi conversion (i.e. questions above). Being a 1.6 8v will I need to swap the drive shafts for 16v jobbies. will they fit into hubs or should I just swap complete leg as well.
tried searchin archives but got lots of nova conversion questions. lol. I assume by the lack of 8v -> 16v questions that it is a really easy conversion. as mr ste sanders said get it all ready before hand, thats what I want to do :P
