1400cc mk3 astra ?
1400cc mk3 astra ?
Very easy to do and dont expect to pay more than about £60.
I payed £140 for a clutch fitted to my old punto...
Of all the things i've lost,
I miss my mind the most.....
It's a quick job as the 'box doesn't need to come out.
go on, don't be a wuss, just chmod 777 it
so ur sayin i could do the clutch myself?
is it that easy?
any gen on what sort of equipment i need? any special stuff?
12pt spline thingy it sez in haynes!
im gonna have a crack at it tomoz
Never done one myself Chris so cannot help.
Watched my mate do one in about a hour !!
bttt for you anyway.
erm, havent done one my self, but looking at the engine & box separately (out of the car) it looks like it could be quite awquard(sp) i cant quite see how you undo the cluch in such a small confined space. is it youre clutch, or is it just the baring?
Clutch is easy mate. Remove the lower inspection plate so you can see the clutch. Remove the end plate and there's a wee bolt hiding the 12pt spline. Remove the bolt and undo the spline bolt. You'll need a puller to get the spline thingy out although it can be done with out. Once you've pulled the shaft go back under the car and put the retaining clips on the clutch, holding the two plates together. You may want a mate to put his foot on the clutch pedal making it easier to put the clips on. Now undo the bolts that hold the clutch in place and drop it out of the bottom. Refit in reverse order
Please ensure all event queries are sent to me and i will reply in due course.....Thank you
thats exactly what someone else said... so i rekon i could do it...
i can borrow the tool off a mate too...
Just go for it Chris, what do you have to lose ?
Chris ,just make sure them clips are on properly. If they arnt ,and come off.........well lets hope they stay on...they should do.
do i definetly need this special tool? or could i improvise?
cuz if i dont need it, ill do my clutch NOW!
there's a picture somewhere of Tom Stickland removing the shaft from the box and clutch by using a long bolt and pulling it out. I think it's pot luck if the shaft is stuck or not. You really need the clips to keep the pressure plate together, else it won't fit through the slot. New clutches usuallly come with 3 already on, and 3 spares in the box.
Remember you need a new gasket for the end of the gearbox. Instant will do till you get a new one.
got a price on a clutch - £56.95
how much should a gasket be?
took it all the casing over, now i need a 12pt spline and that ''tool''
borrowing tool tonight, ready to use tomoz...
bloke cant find the tool.. but i got the 12pt spline...
what did this ''tool'' actually do? anyway around it?
Its a slide hammer to pull the shaft out. Some times it just pulls out when a bolt is put in the hole.
