GTE 8v oil temperature sensor
saw entries in EPC for an oil temperature sensor for 1.8 8v. doesnt show where it goes or what its a sensor for (wheres the guage)
any gen ?
what year & car? mine never had one
oh aye, 1.3 thro to the 1.8 sri astras. looks like it just replaces the pressure switch
it doesnt matter too much tho does it? the actual sensor is only a couple of quid from demon tweeks or the like.
i think it bolts in the back of the block and is wired in series with the water temp sender
the haynes wiring diagrams will show the needed info
well my research is not so much where do i get a sensor, but where do i put it without tapping the sump.
t piece in the pressure sensor hole and connect the 2 to that
or tap the blanked plug hole just above that which is for the turbo oil return i think
t piece is obvious cheaper and easier, just gotta get round to doing it myself
but the t piece will allready have the standard pressure sender, after market pressure sender.
any tree piece gen
LOL oh aye yeah, would be the same here.
might just ditch the dash sensor (it would just read full anyway, no big deal if theres a semi decent gauge there)
or go for analogue gauges if you are feeling brave
well i have the guage and sender. could put a t piece in a t piece, cause one of the ouputs is the same as the vaux sender, so t piece would fit.
My block has one. Though it's never used as it was part of the ECU controlled ignition.
You thought about tapping the sump plug?
Think RDS was offering to drill and tap a sump plug.

IIRC its up and to the left of the oil pressure sensor.
If you look in EPC it is listed for SV engines.

so whats it do then, just ecu temp sensor or what ?
Going by looking at some in scrappies and remembering bits from Haynes Manual, yep, ECU input.
as stated above... the temp sender is below where the knock sender is

this reminds me of somethin weird ive found on my xe
3 PLUG,IGNITION TIMING 1 90091048
goes into a little bush on exhaust side, water pump end of the block. the crank has 2 nobbles next to each other on the weighty bit.
there was no sensor on mine, just the bush
i'll get a pic when im next at robs
yeah thats the crank sensor, whats your point ?
thought the crank sensor was further over, and read off the toothed wheel?
no, its bolted into the block, behind the pas pump bracket, counts markers on the crank counter weight, just as youve described.
whats the toothed wheel for?
ahhhhhhhhhhh dont tell me
crank position sensor
crank speed sensor
XE only has position sensor.
it doesn´t have anything to do with the Le-Jetronic ECU
it´s only connected to the little standalone ignitionsystem on 1.8e engine (early astra MkI and MkII)
it also uses an tempsensor/vaccumsensor(unsecure on that) in the inlet manifold.
and it´s an standard VDO sensor.
so it should be possible to connect it with an VDO analog meter.. Kadett GT/E Sometimes you are the bug
sometimes you are the windsheild
then y do i have both the bush for that sensor i listed above, and a toothed wheel and crank sensor
