On behalf of a friend,
The thing won't idle properly and keeps stalling when cold, the throttle needs to be kept open a little until warm.
It has to warm up for ages before it'll hold its idle speed - then once its started the revs surge upwards -
If you blip the throttle the revs hold for a few seconds then fall down to idle- once it's warm and its idling on its own the idle speed is fine -
but the minute u put ya foot on the gas the revs surge up on their own.
At this point I am thinking that the ICV is faulty and sticking like mad....
But if you try and drive it, you get it to rev and bring the clutch up and it stalls. There is actually no power behind the revs, there is enough to let it idle the engine, but no power to move the car!!!
What could this be??
I suspect a major air leak after the AMM, or could it be the AMM itself???
The engine is a 20XE with a dizzy and 2.5ECU, its a H-reg calibra. I do not know whether it is an early XE with or without a CAT.
