I have just bought an L reg (1994) Mk 3 Cav Sri 8v. Ive had a few Cav SRIs mk 2 and 3's 1.8's and 2.0's all Pre 1992 so when I checked the throttle switch clicked and found that my new car didn't click, I automatically thought it was goosed and got my hands on a replacement. only to find that this one doesn't click either, Ive herd that the Cavs fitted with Cats don't have any adjustment on the potentiometer unlike older engines but do they still click when working?
Cheers for any advice?
Also any ideas on improving intake/ exhaust on these cavs fitted with those infernal CATs would be most appreciated are as i was thinking about a cat back stainless system, are they worth it for any performance gain or would it be just as good going for a nice back box for looks etc?
Most motronic systems were fitted with a microswitch type TPS, so it knew if the butterfly flap was open or close. However some where then replaced with a pot type TPS (ie C20LET engines) so the ECU knew the precise position of the butterfly flap.
The only way to check is with a DVM connected. If the pot is tuned round and you DON'T get a resistance change, then its kncaked.
