I saw a set of XER cams for sale on ebay a few months back. New from a company whose name escapes me, but you'll have heard of them! I asked them about this, and they weren't sure. When I did a bit more digging, apparently they ran these cams with pocketed pistons and for that reason I was out.
Basically different manfold, cams, pistons and ECU.
Was only really in europe with a few over here but rare, as they had to make the car to get into rallying due to the regulations. I had the manifold and cams but had to sell them due to circumstances beyond my control wish i had them still
Hi,
Thanks guys, I thought there was some cylinder head modifications too. Because of the F2 rally homologation/regulations.
I did a bit of searching and found something about the heads being cast with port differences by Holden in Australia.
Do you know what the lift and duration of the camshafts was?
Thanks
Made a purchase today.
New bare XER cylinder head, camshafts & inlet manifold.
Should be able to start the engine build in a couple of weeks when I've acquired a few more components.
crankshaft - like xe/let, but for xev bottom gear
rods - same part number like xe/let
pistons - made by mahle. in mahle catalog casting type like on c20let pistons. also in mahle catalog you can find oversize pistons. opel/vaux EPC don't have part numbers for oversized pistons
camshafts
exhaust manifold - 4-2-1 (inlet the same)
bottom part of oil sump - it's welded for hard cornering, like in instructions for rally nova
valve springs
ecu map
also i've hear that this engine was build to be ready for group N and need to change only maps. also, that official dealers have special map for this engine - higher rpm limiter and more power.
Kev_G do you have still have any XER items?
Did you ever get your components built up into an engine, you seem to have had some experience with the whole OPC/XER project.
Isnt the xer and xev crank stainless same flyweel bolt but will run only the square tooth set up as the round tooth lower pulley will not fit the inner dameter si approx 2.5mm larger
