ive got 2 choices with the re-build that im starting in the next week or so. which is the better option. i dont mean cheapest etc, i mean what is going to suit my needs the most.
buy a new piston to replace the melted one. other 3 have covered a little over 14k and are in good condition. all new bearings, water pump, oil pump etc etc costing aroun 250 all in roughly
forged low compression pistons 8.2:1, lightened and balanced crank, flywheel con rods etc, and all new bearings, water pump oil pump blah blah costing around a grand in total, well about 900 ish.
which is looking like being the best idea? its not really about the cost, its just is lowering the compression etc gonna mess around with things? like the way the phase kits run as these are designed around a std bottom end. is it gonna be better to spend the money than to just rebuild it simple way. all the car will get used for is 1/4 mile runs and the odd weekend of killing its ass round the country lanes.
any compromises? i can get the lightened and balanced stuff for 350, maybe just get a new std piston for 70 quid etc. which is gonna be best to suit my, lol, needs????
