I've got a 1991 Astra SXi with an 1800 engine. It has an oil cooler mounted just in front of the radiator, but it's been bugging me for a while that the oil cooler never seems to get warm at all, like nothing's flowing through it, so I took it all apart today.
I can't get anything to flow through either pipe, even tried poking a bit of wire down them to attempt to clear any blockage, but nothing, even air under reasonable pressure, wants to pass through them.
Question is, how easily is stuff supposed to flow through these pipes?? should I be able to blow through them easily or not?? Is there a thermostat like device that only lets the oil flow through it when its hot??
If there's no oil passing though the oil cooler, is there oil reaching the rest of the engine, or am I doing damage by driving with it potentially clogged up??
Any help's much appriciated.
