hi people i just brought a 95 cav 2.0 cdx today.... very nice car apart from it seems to stall when warm and wont idle, but its fine when cold ... ive put it down to the idle control valve sticking and will try it 2moz morning but is there anything else it could be ? thanks
this is probably the start to a load of problems why did i buy a ecotec lmao
The Ecotec engine in my Omega clacks its nuts off for about 4miles i had the lifters changed but made no difference any ideas?
It too tends to want to stall when warm and the idle control valve
is suspect but DONT by from the main dealers as it'll cost about £150. instead go to (Leicestermotorfactors.co.uk) it;ll only be around£75.
Blowing exhaust manifold (either the gasket has gone along with a couple of studs, or the manifold is cracked), gives the same sound as tapping followers.
Clean the air intake system from where the two pipes that come from the cam cover join it. (one into air pipe, other one into throttle body).
(1) Clean breather pipes.
(2) Clean ICV
(3) Tin of Carb cleaner down throttle body.
REDLINE IT A COUPLE OF TIMES.
Lots of shite from exhaust for a few mins, then a sweeter running engine. Do this once a month and kiss idle and stalling probs goodbye.
If it still does it after this, there is another problem somewhere.
One last mod worth doing is block off the hole on the air pipe, (The bigger of the 2 cam breather pipes that lead to it).
Extend this pipe, and run it into a catch tank at a low point of the engine bay. A small coke bottle does perfect.
Crude but it prevents all that shite and warm engine air ever getting back into the throttle body.
This can be done with the smaller pipe too, but a bit trickier blocking of the inlet nozzle on the throttle body.
