vauxhall cdti 19 turbo blown

hello
i have a vauxhall zafira 19cdti 08 36,000 miles
i was driving on the motorway and had been traveling for under an hour when there was alot of white smokefrom the rear and a slight rumble
i pulled over fast and the car filled with smoke and it also covered all 3 lanes on the motorway
when i pulled up i turned the engine of but the engine still ran and started to rev very high
it cut out after a short time just about 5 to 10 seconds
i have been told 2 injectors are gone and the turbos had it to still dont know about the engine till the new parts are fitted
how can this happen to a car with 36000 miles on the clock and also i am a sunday driver and have looked after the car
i was told these things just go with no warning ,is this right ?
i had the car motd 4 days before and thought it would have shown up on the emissions test if there was going to be such a fault
could have killed me,my family plus many others on the road
if this can happen at any time to any turbo then i am going back to petrol injection
