    Nova C16XE - Exhaust options, need a cat for the MOT

    Got the Nova running, need to get it into an MOT but it needs a CAT, its a C16XE with a tubular manifold.

    At the moment has a welded pipe straight through to the middle silencer matched up to the downpipe then a standard nova GSI box.

    I need a cat on it for the mot, the Novas a K reg and ive been told by the mot station that it should be tested to the engine date (earliest c16xe being what 93/94?)

    What options have I got?

    Find a CAT and get it fitted for the MOT. It's a once a year drama as a result of a modified car. Best bet is to get either end of the straight through pipe flanged so you have a detachable CAT section and detachable straight through section that you can swap when required.

    The Nova GSI cat will go in with just a tiny little bit of fettling. If you've got the proper length C16XE manifold it meets up perfectly, it's just the flange that needs changing. If it's a C16XE/X16XE one size fits all manifold you just need to extend the pipe a few inches to mate it up. That will bolt directly to a Nova cat back system for MOT time and you can easily chuck your de-cat pipe in there for the rest of the year.

    Cheers Dave, appreciate the reply. I'll whip my exhaust off and have a look out for a Nova GSI cat.
