Hi. Live in Rochester, NY, USA. I'm a proud owner of a 1987 Pontiac Sunbird Turbo GT Convertible. It has a 2.0 OHC Turbo motor. I've been hearing rumors, that this motor, dubbed the Brazillian (made in brazil) OHC 2.0, might be a cousin of the Vauxhall/opel 16v 2.0... The blocks I've noticed from our two motors look VERY similar... thouhg I haven't seen enough photo's to know for sure. Now the US 2.0 OHC, started out as a 1.8 OHC, then was bored or stroked to 2.0 OHC, and offered in a turbo. I've heard that the 2.0 16v that you guys have, started out as a 1.4... so that may be a sign that they're not the same. But who knows, maybe the engine came to the us after being around in Opel for a while. What I really want is to bolt up a DOHC 16v head from one of the vauxhall motors, and put it on my 2.0 turbo. The 2.0 turbo has 165 hp , and 175 lb/trq stock. The DOHC head would certianly help things out!! So if you have any information on this, or maybe if you have a headgasket for one of these motor's, let me know! I could arrange for you to ship it. I don't care if it's a blown head gasket or not. Just want to see if it's the same block. Thanx in advance.
