    Calibra 911 Turbo ?

I have some classic problems with my tbox on cally turbo and now trying to fix it, but I have read bunch of tbox related issues and projects about putting 4x4 transmissions on astras, or ideas about using evo6 running gear on calibra, rwd conversions and similar stuff, and one idea poped in my head. Is anybody tried to make Calibra 911 Turbo? “Just” move the engine and gearbox from the front to the back, remove the fuel tank (put it in the front), remove the rear diff, connect F28 gearbox to the wheels, maybe put LSD into F28 and whala - we have RWD Calibra Turbo that can take big power, with LSD at back and independent rear suspension. No need for turning the engine, no need for another gearbox, propshafts etc. Ok, I know that some fabrications and then some had to be done, but it recons that isn’t that bad as for instance all trouble that Qrew has gone tru creating his RWD Calibra, with M5 rear diff or gearbox and all other stuff. Is someone try this idea, or is this so silly that no one even consider it ?

rwd diffs are in the centre, fwd diffs are right over the passenger side. so if you stick it in the back like that cylinders 1 and 2 will be hanging out the drivers side quarter.

at first i thought you were talking about those 991 replica's made from cally T's

Transverse rear engine has been done plenty, its very easy to do but not so easy to do right

If you go to the trouble of fitting one in the back it would be rude not to leave an engine in the front and retain 4wd traction.

You've got the right car for a starting point, seeing as Calibras are much quicker (both standard and modified) than the more popular choices for fast Vauxhalls. It would be much easier to do the transverse engine as you have much less engineering to do, and it would probably handle better than a RR setup.

Personally I would go down the route of C20LET + Celica GT4 or Evo running gear
