    Corsa losing coolant help

Basically im loosing about half my antifreeze in just over a month, and theres mayo on the cap but not on the dipstick... Only started happening since its been cold the past couple months though it didnt happen last year.

Its a z10xe engine on 70k mostly used for about 10miles at a time for commuting.

My dad seems to reckon its the timing cover gasket? is this a labour intensive job?

Any other suggestions to the problem are appreciated

Nope no visible leaks, it's just disappearing from the header tank.

And it's not leaking from the heater matrix either which appears to be a common fault corsa c's

My mate had this on their 1.2, turned out to be the thermostat, got it replaced and no more using water.

He has had a new water pump before this though, have a look at front of block with the engine running to see if there is any water from the core plugs.

Thermostat seems fine, had it sniff tested aswell and that came out ok so head gasket is ruled out.

Changed the oil and filter for the time being anyway

Most likely to be headgasket even though a sniff test did not pick it up

Everyone on a corsa forum reckons head gasket but Ive seen a couple mechanics who all seem to think its this timing gasket as it perishes or something.

But it gets changed when doing a head gasket anyway apparently

Get it sniff tested (or buy the kit and do it yourself) to be sure but if there is mayo on the oil cap its most likely the head gasket, it takes ages to end up on the dipstick

Well I've left it for a bit and been keeping an eye on it and I seem to have stopped loosing coolant.

But I do keep getting the mayo etc

So I'm just going to leave it, don't fix what's not broke and all that lol
