non vaux gearbox question

its a punto 1.2 8v box and the ball the linkage cable clips onto has snapped off....

anyone come across fixing this?? i tried to weld it but it come off again, i think it needs re welding better! would this sort of thing be steel??

I'd drill it out and bolt on in instead. Cant remember where you get the ball/sockey kits from though,lol.

ah i see!!

i will try that option if the welder fails, do you think they'd be steel??
