X14XE Rally Engine - Oil Restrictor Mod
Hi all,
In finalstage of building pretty decent spec 1400, 16v rally motor for my Nova rally car with all JRE/SBD, etc. bits and should make 170/180 I hope. More is possible with the right throttle bodies, cams, etc. but will see what we get with what we have at the moment before going too much further.
Existing engine was standard'ish with throttle bodies, etc. and is making 140+bhp so not too bad. I am running the oil return/breather mod from the cam cover as recomended by SBD, etc. These engines put a lot of oil in the cam cover at high revs and can cause oil/crank starvation with bad consequences, lol!!
Thing is that I have heard mention of an oil restrictor mod to reduce oil flow to the head and help minimise this problem. Just wondering if anyone has any actual facts/details/pictures of what exactly this is. I am assuminmg it is a drilled plug/orifice in one of the oil feeds to the head. Where does it go, diameters, etc.?
Any help/information gratefully received as we will obviously pushing even more revs (8,000+) with the new engine.
David
