1.7 td cav putting white smoke through interior vents and abs light on

hi , could someone please help , i recently put a 1.7 td eng in my cdx mk 2 cav that i bought withou a eninge , eveything wokin fine apar fromsmoke coming though the interior airvents , its notexhaust fumes either,cn any one please help?alo my abs light coming on and having problems getting god interior heat and no cooling fan coming on either if some one could help would be great

I had the same in my 306 TD. the matrix was ****ed.

Heater matrix and if its got abs its a mk3 cav not a mk2 which might help when you're buying a new matrix.
They are £30odd and not hard to fit, you just have to remove the centre console

does it feel like there's an 'oily film' on the glass and does it smell like antifreeze, also is any of the interior wet/damp round the centre console. if so i would say its the heater matrix??????? as for your abs, it could be dirty sensor/rusty plug, try getting a code for it and (to coy the phrase) google it , whether you can do the pin trick or have a code reader is up to you

thanks guys , looking like the heater matrix then , front carpet wels r damp and doe smell like anti freeze . what way does the pin trick work ? info is much appriecated ,

the pin or paper clip trick.....you connect together 2 pins on the diag port if you have 1 and it flashes the engine light (with ignition on), then count the flashes and look up the code. most people have recommended this site...and its worked for me Topbuzz Web Site - Technical Information - ECU Fault Codes @ www.topbuzz.co.uk

best place to get a matrix, i would look on ebay or vauxcentre.co.uk...depends how much you wanna pay really. sorry cant be much more help
