Corsa B 1.6 16V Wont Start....

Bought a wee Arden blue Corsa the day, as it was firstly cheap and i have been looking a project for a while .... Only downfall its a non runner ....The owner said it cut out on him when driving throught the town and wounldnt start after (turning just not firing up), he then got it towed and it started, he then parked it his house, but when he went to start it the next day it wouldnt start.... Havent got a chance to look at anything yet as the battery was flat ..i tryed starting her with jump leads but no joy even put fresh petrol in too.. Any ideas what it could be before i take a look at her tomarrow....?

Ps. the car was a 1.4 sport the a 1.6 engine out of an astra was transplanted into it long ago.

so its definetly ran since the transplant? does it turn over? does it sound okay? give us a bit more of a clue.....

Yes it ran long after the transplant.. Turns over fast enough with leads on....it will start with a tow i was told ...its at the garage at work and only bought it today...when turning it over for a while it back fired out of the exhaust..... wouldnt be egr blocked...?

do a compression test also

Have you checked the timing belt hasn't slipped ?
