    reusing 400 mile mains shells

had my let apart to check the main shells, the engine has only covered 400 miles, all was fine shells still bedding in.
one of the caps the shell was removed, it was removed with great car to check size and then put back in carefully not heavy handed.
is it ok to carry on using these shells or should i install new main shells

What he said. Shells should never come into contact with the crank so there is nothing to bed in.
Unless they were starved of oil or if the oil was contaminated with something they will be fine

    Fit new bolts.

I've used the same set of bearings on three engines (two cranks), in the past - as said - as long as everything is clean and unmarked, no reason not to!
