just a quick one, i was day dreaming and wondered if anyone had ever taken a big engine diesel, probably the 2.0 16v diesel out of vectras and zafira and put it in a mk3 astra or a corsa or somethin,
just thought it may be rapid! and eco friendly

That could be a very interesting conversion - I don't know what the Vauxhall engines are putting out, but they're getting well over 300hp out of the VAG diesels of about the same capacity.
For some inspiration - this is what one of the Americans' did (bill was a quarter mi'., IIRC!, for the whole car build)

Hmm.. In the garage I have an Astra GTE convertible, on the drive I have a Vectra CDTi 150.. That could be an interesting marriage, I suspect the torque of the CDTi would probably wreck the bulkhead of the GTE in a few months.
cant you strengtheen the bulk head
Probably, but I'm sure there would be other issues such as putting a daft great heavy diesel engine in a car that, in standard guise is really easy to break the back loose, and wasn't renowned for being the strongest thing in the world either, especially with the rood removed.
I'll make it clear, I'm NOT thinking of doing this. The Vectra is 3 1/2 years old, and my daily driver, and the Astra is a summertime toy, was just musing over the thought as suggested by the OP..
i was thinkin super Eco track car. Like this in a stripped modded astra mk3? Can imagine engine would be super cheap to get from scrap yard. Big front mount and a map. If you can? Dunno how good the ecu is! Think the engine was about 2000ish so Prolly too early. Mayb just Wang the boost and fuel up like you can on the 1.7d
