    X18XE1 Nova. Immobiliser trouble.

Hello there. Just fitted an X18XE1 into my Vauxhall Nova. Wired up the pick up ring as I thought was correct, but when it fires, the immobiliser cuts in and the EML just flashes. Anyone help me on what needs to be wired up for the immobiliser to work. Cheers, deanbean.

Nowhere to fit the chip into a Nova key, so i've taped it to the transponder.

tape it to the key mate, i had this prob ages ago,

if its taped to the underside of the transponder it may not be picking up the signal very well , try taping it farther up or on the key

Can someone identify which coloured wires off the pick up ring need to be connected. All information is appreciated.

From a wiring diagram, bit tricky to decode - looking at the immobiliser plug from the pin side with the locating tab on the top, pins numbered left to right:

1 - Brown/Violet - to anti-theft warning system. Assume no connection in your case. Think this is to deactivate alarm when a known key is inserted.
2 - Brown/Blue - to clocks. Presumably the EM light.
    3 - No Connection
    4 - Brown - to Earth
    5 - Black - Ignition Live
6 - Brown White - to Diag Port
    7 - Blue/Red or Blue/Black - to Brown/White at ECU
    8 - No Connection
    9 - Red - Battery Live
