What car is the xe in? beware of the stainless ones on ebay as they are a very poor fit, shame really as they're quite well made just to a junk pattern.

Vauxhall Red Top & Ecotech manifolds « John Ashley Exhausts

he does sell them on ebay tho, the links of the images are on that website, im not 100% sure if mine is as i was looking at it today but it is simulair and i have had no problems with it and the previous person didnt either from what i know. the only diff from mine and the john ashley mainfolds is i have a lambo sensor hold welded on where the normal john ashleys dont come with the luggs on them but i think you can ask for 1 to have it on or weld 1 on yourself.

Yep they come up the sump with a massive amount of clearance and unless you were on standard suspension you would struggle to get anywhere with it. I took a punt on one in a ebay auction and got it cheap, good job really as I then had to pay someone to cut and re-weld it while on the car. Good fit now though and sounds nice.

Javy, thanks for the link you supplied above.
Would you loose a bit of low down torque over the standard manifold?I know you would gain in the midrange and top end.

Tiff lee,you were lucky you had somebody to modify this then whilst it was fitted to the car.All came good in the end then.

    Thanks.Lee.

the Type C high torque manifold is £400+ from SBD.
BTB used to make the Type A manifolds for SBD wat you need to do is give BTB a call they will make it on request thats wat they did for me allow 4-6 weeks.

great info there. What's the performance differences between the type A and and type C manifolds? Are they both 4-2-1 or 4-1?Performance differences low/mid range and higher revs, torque etc?Bearing in mind it's only gonna be for a standardish 2.0xe mk3 astra gsi for road use only. How long ago did they make yours?

    Thanks.Lee.

"A" is said to be worth around 10hp and retains good low to mid rpm with a smaller top end improvement compared to the "C" which is more focussed on mid to top end and improved engines. I've heard of stock engines showing a significant improvement withthe "C", though. Both are 4>2>1 types.
Of course, the rest of the exhaust system also has to be up to the job as well - personally, I'd start with that as the OEM isn't as good as it could be.

Great info there.I already have a Bastuck stainless exhaust system with decat which is very very good,I only have a standard 4 branch manifold fitted at the moment,so need to buy a good replacement for this.

    Thanks.Lee.

Very good information, but how much you spent for it? Under 300?

Is it bigger than the Lexmaul (4-2-1) one?

    Thanks.

if u don't mind some hard work, i bought a sportex mani off ebay, cheap compared to most stuff and mild steel, 180quid ish, my car came with one and fitted perfectly but i bought another and it didn't fit as well, hit the subframe and hangs low, but with the money i saved, got the mani modified (cut and shut) and now it fits spot on!

is a must really if u are goin to heat wrap the mani too, cause if its not stainless, it will rot out in about 4 years and crack lol

Just called BTB and they say Sbd don't have them made anymore and BTB won't make a one off as they said the jig has been destroyed for it.Called SBD and they only sell the type c manifolds now which are mild steel and weigh in at £487 +vat,so that's £584.40 ouch, seriously expensive.Looks like it will have to be a Lexmaul stainless or a John Astley mild steel manifold then.

    Thanks.Lee.

    nothing!

    Re: good c20xe exhaust manifold

tbh mate wouldnt be worried about it sounding good , on corsa c20xe im doing just now just astra mk3 manifold thats been mated to a cobra sport cat back system for a 1600 sport yeah its benn cut and welded but if you take your time and clean t up proper use the correct tools for the job then your not gonnahave to spend hundreds of £££ on one ... it sounds raspy as anything and dont rattle and clears the ground which is most important , but did a bit of smooting on the inside of it as was a bit tacky 10 min job wth the dremel or grinder whatever you can get your hands on
