Re: What is this on a MK3 Cavvy 1.7TD?
The first pic is the inlet manifold heater. Not sure about the pink plug in the second
Same colour as mine by the look of it.

The pink plug is what is coming off the "inlet manifold heater" as you have called it. Was thinking it may be something like that. Don't suppose you can post a pic of yours so that I can try and find where the rest of the loom is please?

I'd have a look but they only fitted them up to 94 I think. Mine hasn't got one that's why I didn't recognise the plug. It probably plugs in around by the fuel pump (rear left) some where

Yea I read that somewhere else, that a 95 intake doesn't have it, I am beginning to think mine has had an engine swap judging by a few other things I have found in the engine bay, like wiring looms cable tied up, radiator doesn't look like a cavalier rad, could be mk3 Astra etc . .

is it direct injection? if its indirect i expect thats why it has a manifold heater. (for cold starts basically)
what happened in 95 ? X17 engine ?

It is indeed an intake manifold heater, wired it up to the glow plug system with a seperate 30amp fuse, just in case and the car starts so much easier. Previously I had to heat the plugs twice before she would fire, but now it fired first time!!
