My V6 seems to be slightly down on power lately, some people have suggested getting the car re rolling roaded. I`m interested to see if anyone has done this and if it restored the former performance?
Vauxhall told me my head gasket was blown, but I have none of the usual symptoms and my trusted garage said the head gasket was ok, it was all coming from the sump plug, so I dont know what to think now. I thought it was the head gasket causing the performance loss - it still might be for all I know, but as a few people have suggested the unichip I thought I`d try and eliminate this first.

Where is there oil? Just on the sump then?
Seems to be. I`ve had smoke coming from under my bonnet at times. After a run, the oil has streaked from the plug towards the rear of the car, there is oil on the exhaust downpipe, which would explain the the smoke.
When weve been out for a run and put the car on the ramp, you can clearly see the oil forming from the sump plug and dripping onto the floor. The thing is, I have also spotted fresh oil around the exhaust manifold on the block, but only the once, every other time I have looked, it has been dry, which puzzles me. There is also no oil coming down the sump and onto the floor, its all dry from the exhaust manifiold to the bottom of the sump.
My garage also said to remove the top of the expansion tank first thing in the morning when the engine is cold, and if its pressurised the gasket is on its way out, but its fine, no pressure at all - how is this a valid way of checking the gasket?
Strange thing is, I had a brilliant drive in it yesterday, car felt fast again for the first time in yonks- I`m sure it wasn`t just the cooler weather either, it was more than that.
