ian sounds like you have a 1.4 8v mate so my guess is get a scrap corsa/astra about the same age and the engine will just replace the one you have at the moment

    hope this helps

    scott

cheers bud well said so any 1.4 8v from a vauxhall will be good to go in my car if ever need a replacement out a corsa or astra then i really do sound silly but dont wanna buy a engine and dont go in my car

Scott... Have you not read the full thread? I know things might be a bit harder for some people to grasp than others but I don't know how hard it is to understand that the same model engine will fit and most other vauxhall engines will fit (with the correct donor parts). that is what at least 6 different people have all said collectively, agreeing with each other. But there seems to be something that Ian doesn't understand about that. It's a bit frustrating and to be honest this will be my last post because id rather go and waste time constructively like play angry birds.

Or maybe after reading this about five times I have to conclude it is possible to decypher...

No there is no other engine that can work on your ECU, so get the exact same engine from the exact same model and build year, but chances are it will crap out just the same. I'd just repair it, but that seems to be a long shot, so then get someone who knows how to repair it or at least diagnose it.

If you want a simple upgrade get a 1.6 engine which fits on the same gearbox and get it together with ECU and engine loom....

So to answer the questions you keep asking...
    Any engine will fit.
    No conversion will be easy.
You will need engine, loom and ecu, (gearbox, shafts, hubs, bigger brakes if it's a bigger engine) downpipe too. Possibly fuel pump depending what spec yours is as you've still not produced a vrn for us to check. (vrn = vehicle registration number Just to be sure).
An engine crane with a competent operator (don't want you hurting yourself).
    Various Other tools.
A mechanic that hopefully knows the difference between an 8 and 16v.
I gave you this information on the 25th, that's 3 days ago. I don't know what else I could have wrote to make it easier for you to understand?!
I will accept your fairly gash comment that "I am useless" when I see your build threads of a Saab engine in a mk3 astra, a Saab engine in a mk4 coupe and soon a Saab engine in an rx8. A dozen c20xe's into various, a c18xe into a Tigra. And that's just my vauxhall accomplishments! Not to mention my Renault, Peugeot or citroen conversions!

There's been so many straight answers pal, okay normal guys who are noobs at least come with information and the really nice ones with pictures to help us help them. We are not avoiding riddles, but this one takes a new prohete because it takes changing the creature itself. Are you flesh and blood or a bot?

Once upon a time, lived a guy called Ian Ross
Drove without insurance, and didn't give a toss
Got himself an Astra, a lovely motor too
    Not sure if it's 16v, or maybe a 1.2?

Got himself on migweb, and fired up a thread
    "OH NOES GUYS I F1NK MY ENJUN'S D3AD"
It's making a ****ing rattle, like a skeleton having a wank
"But I can't afford a mechanic, it would break the ****ing bank"

The other thing I noticed, is that Ian cannot spell
Sentences are broken, with punctuation straight from hell
I WONT A RAPID CAR, he shouts with a Scottish roar
SO I BORT THIS WIKID ASTRA, a beasty 1.4
What a brilliant place to start, such an amazing car
Don't know your piston rings from your onion rings...
... you won't get very far!

Ask MID says not, have a look yourself.

As for people with engine conversion registered wrongly, this is not what MIG is about.

No car for sale is allowed with engine details wrong for starters.

    Anyway....
