Well its tru... i just got back from our RR meet and im gutted (although not *as* gutted as i would have been had i not fixed the phasekit in time(cheers gav/russ) and fixed my 4x4
Anyway... i litterally just got the kit installed(PIII+ software +frontera FMIC in lower scoop airflow) this morning.. havnt had time for any propper runs or setup.. and drove the car all the way to the RR with the switch right down in case i blew any hoses just getting there
I have set it up as follows.. Shut wastegate, spun outer nut to rest on it.. then 4 turns more.. then ajusted the top spring enough to *just* take up the slack in the spring to stop it falling out... no more..
The car appears to run 1.3- 1.4 bar overboost then hold at 1bar, so i thought it was setup ok.. then graph appeared wheres my horses gone? did sumone leave the gate open?
Its a bit ugly isnt it.. heheh just look at that torque spike.. please dont all laugh at once.. at least its better than the standard car.. what a surreal graph eh?!!!
So now you've stopped laffin.... what do you think? I dont forsee the frontera cooler being the hugest of problems here, i realise its not as good as the EDS one, but the input/output are larger bore than the origional cooler so its kind of an in-betweener, its a good size, and reasonable heatsoak factor, as this was the first or second run only, theres no way in my mind it would have maxed out on core temp.
The only thing with the install im unhappy about is the turbo>intercooler hose.. i had to use the origional hose for now and re-route it all.. unfortunately the curve on this piece is too sharp really and the hose has a habbit of kinking.. not 100%, but it is a strange oval shape and definately a limiting factor of some form, how much i can only guess, but since the boost gauge (taken after the cooler in the inlet no?) is reading ok boost i would immagine this cant be *that* much of a problem?? If it was limiting then the boost wouldnt be achieved would it?? Unfortunately no boost plot was avaliable..
My only thought other than getting better hose for that bit, is the actuator setup, i get 1.3 1.4 overboost, its supposed to be 1.5ish, but i wanted to go on the lower side to be on the safe side.. Does increasing the pressure on the P3 additional spring only increase overboost?? or do i need to tighten it up? IE would it make the car hold this 1.4bar overboost for longer to achieve more bhp without raising the boost to 1.5+ or does it do the same as the actuator rod ajustment in that it will simply raise the overboost level and uneffect the duration/held boost??
PS .. i just noticed its supposed to hold 1.15bar?? i think mine holds 1bar.. but ill double check in the morning.. i didnt fancy doing many test runs that far away from home IF this is the case what might be causing my lower held boost? i thought it was ecu controlled .
