A few weeks ago, my water pump on my Calibra C20XE seized up, hence the cam belt jumped a few teeth and the pistons hit the valves. As its 10 years old, I thought its time to do something to the engine.....so I bought a C20LET + F28 gearbox
Now is seems that the pistons in my C20XE (1993) were not 'safe', in that the pistons will always come in contact with the valves if things are not timed. It also seems true for the C20LET engine too. Now I want to rebuild/recondition the C20LET engine, and I thought it would be a good idea to put 'safe' pistons in there to aviod this proplem in the future (if it ever happens again).
Are there any pistons like this for C20LET on the market?
I'm aware it will affect the compresson ratio a bit, so do I need to change the head gasket?
Any information on this would be a great help thanks.
PS, I intend to keep the standard turbo unit (well recon it at least) and fit the Phase II kit from Wallace Performance.
