No but you're expected to be aware of what's in your mirrors and to cede to faster cars because they shouldn't be having to overtake you competitively. Dickheads who have no idea what's behind them and hold up faster cars with better drivers should be black flagged.

Ah, I agree with you, there.
Some guys should be doing club 'run what you brung' types of races. Some people just want to go out and give their road car a bit of a run - no hardship waiting a bit for a better place to pass or until they pull over for you.
Part of that can be avoided by having a set time for the beginners and 'Sunday drivers' to go out - it's also a good safety measure, IMO, as the speed differential can be significant.

To be honest with a Corsa B for a track car I would use the x18xe1 small block engine.
That would keep the cars balance in order.
Then you trick it out with high compression pistons, rods, balancing, head work, cams, throttles, etc.
You could make in the region of 150 - 155kW atw if done right.
With proper coil over suspension that should give you excellent handling in the corners.

I've had my street legal 20let corsa B on the track, and the understeer was not so good with stock suspention and street tyres.
Can't use the power to clear the apex and power out of the corner.
I've since fitted coilovers that made it better, still need to try semi's.
Straight line power is great, but one looses in the corners, and that is where it all counts.
I suppose a 20let or 20xe with a fully kitted track setup would perform better ?

If its a quick straight line car your after, maybe you should be looking at building a car for Crail??
That is what I's talking about.
With the heavier engine the corsa's handling goes awol.
Keep to the small block x18xe1 engine for balance.
An interesting change would be to fit the x18xe1 and turbo it.
Now that would be interesting on the track.

What I tend to do to deal with cars that are slow on the bends is that I deliberately slow down more than I need to before the apex to put a gap between me and the slower cornering but faster on the straights car that hasnt had the decency to move over and let me pass, then I accelerate hard to the apex so I still hit the apex at more or less my max possible corner speed but from a late entry angle so that I am coming out very shallow, then that way I get to fly up the inside of the poor cornering car just after the apex, this puts me in front of them on the straight and as I carry more speed onto it than them i tend to then manage to pull a bit of a gap initially which is enough to hold them off for that one straight and then once Im over the rise and through camp im gone and dont see them again.
Not intended to intimidate anyone, just intended to get me past them and on with my day like I would do if they followed the rules and pulled over in the first place.

Having been out in various very well setup 500-600bhp cars in the same session as there have been people with their daily drivers out just pottering around I can certainly see the logic in having seperate sessions for different experience levels like we do at Total Vauxhall Live for example.
Like you say, the speed differentials can end up massive otherwise, and you shouldnt need to be relying on others to be competant as in many cases they arent if it is their first session.

At our events they have sessions with 3 classes.
    Road legal cars/first timers
    Fast track cars/experienced drivers
    Supercars go on their own.

    Usually about 30mins sessions.
You get about 10 laps in.
But that is for open track days.
    Other events differ.
