i would have said that the unichip is cracking...it sure sounds like a good package, but having gone in for one to be fitted and it not even remotely working then i am gonna say they aint that good.
as for suppliers, chat to gav wallace, he can sort you out locally for around the 400 mark

the best way would be to map an aftermarket ecu to the engine, emerald or summat, they are good, but is it worth it?

    pssst carbs

I wouldn't bother with a Unichip. Had one fitted to my last car. Didn't notice any difference to power or acceleration and it went tits up about 6 months later, making the car undriveable. Who knows what damage it did to the engine. The fuelling was all over the place and it would frequently just cut out whilst driving along the road. I've still got the replacement they sent me sitting on the table in my house. I won't be putting back in my car!

Well, I know a few people with a Unichip, and have had decent gains, as well as better MPG, and it's been well worth the money.

I thought your problem was because of the loom being an Opel varient Rob, and they couldn't get hold of that one quickly???

I'm still a fan Unichip! lmao

    What to do??????

Thinking about it maybe its not worth changing the chip.
For 400 and no garantee of improvement........

I think I will just put the ported head on slap an SFE Boot valve on with an air filter and exhaust and be done with it.....

Yep, sounds better. Although carbs could be had for that money, as 16vastra says. Guaranteed gains, although poo fuel economy.

The unichip should be plumbed in when you've done other mods, like ported head, cams, etc.etc. Then you see some good gains, and better curves...

    For sure.

Sadly you cant cam the 1.6 nova gte because of the air flap. The cam creates air pulses at idle and f's the fueling.
    Doh

to a degree. The homogilated one managed to 150bhp from the 1.6 and had a nice cam in it with a modified ECU.
