I need some information regarding exhausts.
I'll give you brief prob that has made me think. I had BIG back box on rear of car. Made exhaust hang low. Had car lowered and exhaust hung on rear axle. Removed back box and raised exhaust. Now there is only one silencer and the exhaust finishes about 8 inches after the axle.
So, I've been driving like this now for 2 days. My first response that it wasn't much noisier. Then after driving for an hour I got a head ache as it's too boomy and is echoing under my car.
However, something I can hear now that wasn't present before. At about 2500-3500rpm there is a real throaty sounding roar to when I acelerate. I know there's still lots of boom but this throaty noise sounded lovely.
My question is, why does that noise only occur at 2500-3500rpm? Is it the diameter of the exhaust that limits the noise, the length of the zorst, the amount of silencers?????
Could someone explain the theory please??
Soz for long post. Thanks
