After much research and reading, I refuse to believe that it's going to cost me more to turbo my XE than to buy a LET.
So being the resourceful chap that I am, I went and got a job at Vauxhall just so I can get staff discount! lmao
How do these prices strike you (including staff discount)?
Set of four LET pistons came to about £210, and the turbo plus manifold came to about £830. Bearing in mind I have Motronic 2.8 which has no boost control, I've also budgeted for a Unichip with boost module. While the pistons are out I may as well replace the bearing shells and other bits.
So for a reasonable sum, I can fully rebuild my XE with a turbo. Is there anything that I should consider instead of getting standard LET stuff? Different pistons maybe? ARP rod bolts? Bigger bore exhaust?
