My mums friend has a Corsa 1.2 16v T-reg. recently the engine management light has been coming on, and the drivability has been getting worse, it just doesnt want to pull at all.
She has taken it to vuaxhall, and they said there not sure of the problem, but if they fit a new idle control valve, and 'loom adaptor' ,<<wotever that is, it should fix the problem, but if it doesnt, then she will need a new ECU, so they have quoted her £200-£600 to repair.
does any1 have any idea about this?
what you mean they dont know the problem? if they plug their crappy tech puter in it gives (in plain english practically) the fault causing the light.
smack em round the head and tell them to do it properly
well ye, but they said its probably down to a damaged ECU, but replacing the idle valve and this loom part shud fix it (99% of the time they say).
some1 has told me on later cars with the same engine they recalled them becuz of a fualt with these 2 parts
they said the same about my corsa 1litre said i would have to fork out £600 on a new ECU! i was getting ready to rip the fecing engine out and stick somthing decent in there. i thought i would have a look at the idle controll valve, basically it is the switch at the end which is the problem. i played about with it for a while, and it worked fine. oh, and i found that by unplugging the fecker alltogether, it works fine.
