As above in an Astra GTE 16v. It's level with the brake pedal, slightly lower maybe. Now is this right as I am basing it on past cars I have driven because they seem to have the clutch pedal higher than the brake.
Sometimes when I stick it into reverse ya can hear it going into gear but no grinding. One thing is though, when I put it in reverse and turn it whilst reversing it makes a grinding sound. Then when I take it out and put it back into reverse again it goes away.
Main reason I was asking as when I had my Asatra mk2 merit 1.4 that started to do then eventually it got right near the floor then it went and dropped. Seemed the realease bearing had gone. So if this might be the problem then i'll have it looked at as soon as.
In normal driving and just putting it into gear at traffic lights e.t.c its ok, no noise at all. Just on the odd occasion when I put it into reverse and start to go backwards and turning it will make a continuous grinding noise, this is while I am moving so there is no loss of movement. If I take it out of gear and put it back in it's fine.
