Just wondering who here is running phase 1?Anyone had any problems?
I know fueling is a bit of an issue. How much would i be looking at to get my injectors cleaned? All comments appreciated
Cheers

I'd go the bit extra and get phase 3. Should cost about £15 per injector to clean and test them - someone on this site has actually got all the equipment to do it - can't remember his name![]()
No, i cant stretch to that, and i wouldnt trust my engine to be running that kind of power without modification. Really have my heart set on phase 1 thanks mate. Cheers anyway![]()
your engine is more likely to go pop if you dont get a bigger inter cooler (lower charge temp) which is supplied as standard with phase 2 if you are paranoid get an inter cooler along with cleaned injectors and you should be ok
Phase 4 nearly done Phase 5 here I come :)
Fuelling is not as big an issue on the Phase I as it is on the Phase II, however its always nice to get the injectors cleaned every now and again even on a normal car.
Phase I is a nice place to start. Laney is selling a set of P1 chips as well but you knew that already
No uprated actuator needed BTW unless your standard one is weak to begin with, just plug em in and away you go (after adjusting actuator to allow more boost of course)

i have a new turbo, so i dont think haveing a week actuator should be a problem. Yep, u got it richie. Its Laneys i was after! Just wanted some ideas about them.
What about plugs? As the kit comes with them, i take it i will need to uprate them? Whats best? Any problems with the Amal valve letting off the extra boost?
Cheers
Andy
Nope, there aint no problems with the Phase I. Had it in mine to test them and they worked great
Your mebbe thinking "how the feck can 50+BHP be as easy as sticking in a couple of chips.... There has to be a catch".
Sorry to disappoint you but there aint![]()

have been running the phase 1 chips for 6 months now with no probs. got regal to fit them for me so i cheated a bit!i did have to replace my actuator as mine was knackered but other than that you just wind the boost up.

really want phase 3.5+ but am delaying mainly due to the cost and hassle of a FMIC! Richie knows all about the fun involved there!
For the 25% increase it is worth the effort just to keep you having fun till you can afford more power![]()

Greddy e-manage fitted - now to get it mapped!
I wonder what Laney is planning....![]()

Phase 1 gets the thumbs up from me. Great fun.
Andy, although you don't need one for the Phase 1, I would look into getting a larger intercooler simply for the added power gains it can bring.
Thanks for all the replies. I think im sold, so if laney's selling im buying!
Hi Rob, yep an intercooler is on the list. Im looking into adapting a fronterta Tdi one to fit so i'll let you all know on that one.
Cheers

Andy.Free, The phase one is great. I'm only getting rid because Gav's a bad influence and has got me wanting PHASE 3!!!!!
And my lass says she'll pay something towards it aswell!!!! (She's after someting.... I'm sure)
lmao lmao, dont I know it..... I have to make sure my boot is locked when he is about or I might find brakes, suspension, phase kits etc in there when I get home lmaoOriginally posted by Laney

The Phase 3 is 300+ BHP isn't it?
Whats the 3.5?
From what my poor memory is telling me the phase 3.5 designed for 2wd conversions - different torque/power curve? but claims up to 330 bhp. the "+" addition to both the phase 3 and phase 3.5 adds the lambda sensor input for protection. If your going for the phase 3 you might aswell go for the 3.5+lmao
no bad influences on this site!!
nothing to see here - no temptation! lmao lmao

3.5 is slightly more power coming from a larger sustained boost level of around 19psi as opposed to 17 psi of P3

So assuming maximum power on a standard LET is around 5600rpm, how is this changed with the Phase one setup? Surely it's not still making power at over 7k revs, the standard car seems to drop off sharply at 6000rpm.The Phase I conversion enables the driver to have 260BHP immediately. It is based around a chip that is simply plugged into the Motronic ECU which changes the way the car boosts and fuels.
The power comes mainly from the change in boost pressure which is increased to 0.95 bar with a maximum overboost (surge of boost when pedal is applied fully after changing gear from high RPM's) of 1.3 bar (18.85 psi). The rev limiter is also raised to 7250RPM
How much of a difference, on the road does the Phase 1 system make compared to the standard car?
It makes a lot of difference - believe me! Car has more driveability all through the rev range as well.
I don't think mine is setup 100%, I know the power band is more narrow than I am used to but it doesn't seem to boost for long enough. Only a gauge will tell I guess. Not a huge concern for now.
how much is phase one chips new and do they ever come up on the second market...if so roughly how much as thinking of phase one before the summer arrives
do they need to set up on the rolling road to get the best or just plug and play....cheers

They are on offer at regal til the 18th for £240ish at the moment. Also at wallace i beilive, and they come with a switch so u can run standard boost levels, then with a press of it have 260 BHP available.
You do need a boost gauge to make sure you arent running dangerous levels, and to set it up. A rolling road session is a good idea, although you can do it just off the gauge, however this wont show any other fueling problems uo. Im booking mine in ASAP.
Tim, the standard cav doesnt boost long at all. Its normal but get a boost gauge just to be sure. Its handy to have anyway. When i got my exhaust and airfilter, it made a significant difference straight away. Made the engine feel more free revving.
