noise levels/sound of 3" on box system?

what does your 3" system sound like with 1 box? never been happy with my exhaust so when i get a welder i will be making my own 3" downpipe back system...

if its 3" all the way right out the back box its majorly loud mate. people will hear you coming from miles away, police will hassle you and when you give it any stick it'll be very obvious its been you so if the police hear it you'll get hassle for that to. im talking from experience here

I have a 3" full system with 2 straight through silencers from powerflow 410x110x76 and it's still a loud burble so am looking to add a 3rd to quiten it a bit more, I'm just not a fan of loud exhaust

my 3" powerflow system isnt that loud tbh was static 97db thats with 2 boxes, i had to loose the fuel tank so i could fit a larger box but seems fine

Why do you only want one box??
Ive heard a 3" system with a big centre box and a backbox and even that was quite loud!!!

Well, I have just had a 3" system made with 1 single back box! And its TOO fuking loud! I will be going back for a another box asap.....its not just loud its ridiculas!

Tbh if there straight through silencers then all they do is stop a bit of resonence but mine with 2 is liveable but 3 would make it better

iv got a 3" system with just a back box and its pretty loud but sounds ok. the rear box is quite big though and not just a universal one

I`m running a full 3" system from turbo through to a rear single box and it is rather loud!!Not too bad as cavalier soundproofing is quite good.

Totally depends on the silencer used and design of the system. If your going to use a poweflow then you'll need half a dozen silencers

RS1, can you recommend a somewhere for silencers? I am currently using a single Powerflow back box that I've had kicking around for years!! and its way to loud!

Yeah, I've got a backbox and a resonator can, neither of which are big, and the volume is pretty respectable. Resonators are a good idea, they don't suck up power like a box and do quieten it down a bit, and are also pretty small so can be sited easily.

FWIW, I prefer 3" systems because they make a deeper boomier noise, rather than a higher raspy noise. 3.5 even better

sean, some of the best silencers that ive seen/heard do a really good job are the likes of borla and magnaflow. Best option really would be to have one made, folks like primary designs and hayward & scott are excellent but they are unbelievably expensive
As tathan said, the tube size will make a difference aswell and also the amount of deviations the gas has to go through..... like the number of bends,how they are formed and how tight they are. Its worth looking at resonators aswell, for the exact reasons tathan has given
