I am looking at getting a few quaife parts for the transmission on my Nova and am just wanting to hear from people who have used any of the products and what their opinions were.
The items I will be purchasing are the automatic torque biasing LSD, straight cut close ratio gearkit including a 4.53 final drive and possibly the externally mounted gearlever.
I know there are a few people with the diffs fitted and I am satisfied that i want the torque biasing system instead of a plate diff. Question is where from and how much? (Needs to fit f-15 )
Is any one using straight cut gears? What is the noise like ? and any thought on the 4.53 final drive bearing in mind i want the best of both worlds acceleration and top end speed.Again where from, how much? (non dog box, f-15)
I think i recall seeing pics of the externally mounted gear lever on Steve Heley's astra and also from seeing Brett Warburtons car in various places.Reading some of the articles on Bretts car it looks like he had a bit of bother getting the lever assembly to work, mods to the exhaust tunnel, bulkhead and some funky linkage to clear the steering rack(didnt he snap this recently aswell) What exactly does this include?
At present my standard gear lever has a really sloppy feel and i often miss gears because of the vagueness (and the dodgy clutch) I have seen a rose jointed linkage on the harry hockly website any gen on these? Thoughts are keep the standard lever but change to the rose jointed linkage if the quaife lever is a pain to get working and its going to be a bit cheaper.
I can get most of the stuff from Demon Tweeks hopefully with MIG discount however I am a bit reluctant to use these because of poor service in the past and they tend to be pricier than most.I know there are alot of questions there but all help is appreciated and with a bit of luck i might get the car back on the road soon lol
