I have recently had the synchros replaced on my F28 box and whilst it was off it was given an total check to make sure there were no other probs. Oil seals were replaced and bearings were checked.
Thing is i am still have the same worrying noises as before the re-build. When ever you ease off the accelerator (yes you do have to every now and then!) i get a grinding noise. like unoiled metallic cogs running against each other. This noise goes away as soon as you dip the clutch. What the £*^% is going on? Has anyone else had the same or similar problem? I did wonder if i was running too thin a lube in the gearbox - what is recommended? I'm pretty sure we used what vauxhall recommended. This noise isnt heat dependent as its always there, even after a long journey.
I am going to take it back to the people who carried out the re-build just to see what they think. They originally said that these boxes (+4x4) were always more noisey than usual but it wasnt this noisey when i first bought the car.
Any gen would be appreciated
